predict products ( data mining 2000)

i want to make a web page and when somebody come in. i want show for him which products that everyone often buy at that time ( month or summer ).

how i do in data mining to predict that products ?

more: i want know how much percent of product is like by buyer

or i want show products with desc % of the like of people

You can use Microsoft Association Rules to resolve this problem: you can include the time info (such as month or summer) in each trasaction, our Assocation Rules will do the counting and find any rules apply. Please check the live sample http://www.sqlserverdatamining.com/DMCommunity/LiveSamples/54.aspx on about the train Association Rules. You might also want to check out the tips and tricks on our data mining web site http://www.sqlserverdatamining.com. SQL Server books online is another resouce you can use to learn about SQL Server in general and SQL Server Data Mining.

Besides time info, you can also include basket info (other products the user has already chosen) and the user's demographic info(such as Geneder, Income --if you have those info) in your model.

DMX is the langue you can use to do prediction. The function PredictHistogram(Product) will given the list of products and their probability when you run queries against your model.

Good luck,

|||

For SQL Server 2000 you would use Microsoft_Decision_Trees. You will build a model based on your customer/shopping basket table using the wizard. Since 2000 doesn't support creating nested tables in the wizard, you then need to add the nested table from your transaction table in the data mining editor.

Your model will look something like this

CREATE MINING MODEL MyModel
(
BasketID LONG KEY,
Season TEXT DISCRETE
Products TABLE PREDICT
(
ProductName TEXT KEY
)
) USING Microsoft_Decision_Tree

If you have a large number of products (which you likely do) you will have to set the MAXIMUM_INPUT_ATTRIBUTES and MAXIMUM_OUTPUT_ATTRIBUTES on the model as well, otherwise the algorithm will perform feature selection to the default 255.

Predict % completed

I'm doing a web search page on a db that has about 1 million records, and
the query is quite complicated. I would like to provide the user some
feedback will the db server is performing the search.
What is the best way to do this? any examples or tutorials?
The only way I can think of is doing 10000 records at a time and add 1% to a
counter.
There must be a better way.
Any input is greatly appreciated,
AaronWhat about firing first the Query to the Optimizer and sshowing the
execution plan for it, you might see there how long (CPU cycles) it will
last and how many rows are estimated (Requirement of maintained statistics
:-)
See for this one:
USE NORTHWIND
GO
SET SHOWPLAN_ALL ON
GO
Select CompanyName from Customers where CompanyName LIKE '%A%'
GO
SET SHOWPLAN_ALL OFF
GO
(Result gonna spread over the page, best thing you execute in on your own.)

Hi Aaron,
The optimizer is an integral part of SQL Server. It's the part of the
server that reviews your query and determines the execution plan (the
order and methods in which data will be fetched and combined to satisfy
your request).

predetermine size of differential

is it possible to interrogate the differential page map prior to making
a backup? I'm interested in logic that will determine if the diff is
approaching the size of the entire database (in order to just do a full
and cut down on subsequent diff's..)
Thanks in advance.
You can try with the undocumented DBCC PAGE command - see

Power failure->Sharepoint DB with torn page

Hi guys!
I'd really appreciate some help and directions about a sql server issue: I
had failure on my server (the fan of a cpu's got broken so the system
ungracefully stopped due to the overheat protection of the CPU). It's running
SBS 2003 premium with sharepoint on SQL 2000.
I was able to get the system back online (had some trobules with the RAID
array but got it fixed) and I was able to have a snapshot of the files just
in case I should be in need to get back to the "original" situation.
Due to the RAID unalignment, my DBs are someway corrupt and I've got a 106MB
sharepoint DB that I'd love to recover.
I already tried to ask for help in the italian sql server newsgroup but no
one was able to help me. What's more, I can't ask for microsoft online
support as they only support english platforms (perhaps I could give it a
try, I mean, the problem would still be exactly the same).
Now the situation is that I've got the mdf and ldf files (I can't use
backups as I need some recent data that still wasn't backed up) and the DB
has a torn page that I'm unable (don't know how) to recover from. Here's what
I get in the event viewer:

how to fix this or how to obtain support from microsoft for an affordable

spend much money for the RAID disks to get recovered and can't spend a
fortune on this).
thanks to you all!
AlessandroIt would be helfpul to know in more detail what you have done.
Is it really the master database which is corrupted or another
database?
Only the mdf file, not the ldf file right?
And you're unable to do any recovery of the file whatsoever?
Mark|||Hi Mark,
First of all thanks for answering. Coming to your questions to help me:
The master DB is not ok but that's not a problem. Once in the past I was
able to recover a sharepoint site from the DBs that conteined it just by
installing a new sql server with the same previous name, attaching the old
(good) content DB and make sharepoint point to it. And, I was able to
install a new instance of the SQL server, create a config and contents db
(those that are used by sharepoint), stop the sql server instance, replace
the "empty" files with the one I recovered and that's how I got into the
torn page error.
I have both the mdf and ldf files. I'm able to recover old copies of the DBs
(including the master) but in which the contents are not up to date.
If you should need further informations, please ask.
Greetings, and thank once again,
Alessandro

now just do a log backup, restore the most recent clean db backup and then all log backup. Zero data
loss.
In your situation, you could consider exporting all tables and objects to a new database.

> Alessandro|||as stated in a previous post in microsoft.public.it.sq
I creted a new instance, created a new db in it with the STS_content name
(the same as the previous one), stopped the instance, replaced the new empty
files (mdf and ldf) with the old full ones, brought back sql service online
and then tried to remove the torn page check following the procedure
explained at
http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://www.google.it/groups%3Fselm%3D356mcjF4klli...%40individual.net
but I was unsuccesful:
USE master
GO
ALTER DATABASE STS_content
SET TORN_PAGE_DETECTION OFF
USE master
GO
sp_configure 'allow updates', 1
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO
sp_resetstatus STS_content
sp_configure 'allow updates', 0
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO

the problem is: being unexperienced with SQL I don't know how to get out
tables/objects from there... the only thing I was able to do following some
directions was to start the DB in emergency mode so the DB was accessible...
I had some mail exchange with Mark that I'd love to share (after getting his
permission BTW) with others hoping that could be of any help. Greetings,
Alessandro
Alessandro,
Enterprise Manager has a section entitled
"Management/DatabaseMaintenancePlans". If you simply upgraded, then I would
look there to see about backups.
You could search your harddrive for files based on how recent they are as
another tool to locating backups. They don't have any own suffix, although
.TRN is a default suffix to look for.
I am unfamiliar with sqlrecovery. When I searched for it I found
www.sql-server-repair.com which might be of interest to you. also
www.sqlrecovery.net. What is your sqlrecovery tool?

Sorry for bring so ignorant about that subject. i was using the basic
sharepoint db installation (which uses msde) and then upgraded to SQL. I don't
know if there were transaction logs backups or not, how can I check it?
Enterprise manager? Looking for files with particular extension?
Greetings,
Alessandro
PS: the pdf you saw is the report about the data that the recovery service
could export from the corrupt db using a quite common and well known
software called sqlrecovery divided DB by DB and I sent it to you just to
make you see the difference between the data they are able to export and the
size of the DB (most probably 'cause sqlrecovery doesn't recognize files
stored in the SQL db as they are probably stored in a proprietary
format/data type):

You can share these emails.
I could not tell from the attachment what all those files are.
Did you have log backups running regularly on yoru server? You should
have had a dbmaintenance plan running (or some other script) every X hours
backing up the transaction logs. This is usually done more frequently than
a full backup.
The restore procedure is to get the last good full backup (not the .mdf
file but the sql backup!) and then restore it, followed by all log backups.
You can restore at least to the point of the torn page, perhaps further.
If you do not have any full or log backups and all you have is an mdf
file, the best I can suggest is that you go back to the last .mdf file which
you backed up. Presumably you backup the .mdf and .ldf files from time to
time. However, I am unsure that such a backup will really work unless sql
server was offline when the .mdf and .ldf file were backed up as you would
have two files which are not synchronized.
***
Do you have a full database backup? Do you have a series of transaction
log backups/dumps?

Subject: R: Power failure->Sharepoint DB with torn page
First of all thanks for helping.
What I was actually trying to do is to start the db in emergency mode
and try to remove the torn page detection and try to access it just to
recover the data from sharepoint. Probably something would be missing but
most of them should be ok. but as I am not a SQL specialist I had troubles
following pthe procedures to fix that (I was only able to make the db in
emergency mode). Another chance would be to bring up the db in emergency
mode and copy all the data/tables/don't know what's the appropriate word
into another fresh db and then bring it up in place of the corrupted one.
These should be the things that most probably would help me stating to
what other italian sql MVPs told me. I also tried to ask for data recovery
but I saw that the data that can be restored is probably unuseful looking at
it's dimension (see the attached pdf file) as many picture images and other
files where in the sharepoint repository (so in the DB itself). Anyway,
2/3MBs out of 106 are nearly nothing, I would probably get more from the feb
backup.
Greetings once more!
Alessandro
PS: I'd like to share all this with the NG, would you mind as these were
private emails?

Got the file. Yes, I get a torn page error trying to restore from the
.mdf file.
If that occurs, I believe you have to restore from your last known
backup and transaction logs. I guess that is what i thought you were going
to provide. Have you tried to restore from that?
If you don't have transaction log backups then you cannot restore.
There might be companies which could edit your file and try to restore it
that way, but that's a fairly specialized service.

It would be helfpul to know in more detail what you have done.
Is it really the master database which is corrupted or another
database?
Only the mdf file, not the ldf file right?
And you're unable to do any recovery of the file whatsoever?
Mark
|||Hi Mark,
First of all thanks for answering.
Greetings, and thank once again,
Alessandro

|||as stated in a previous post in microsoft.public.it.sq
(http://groups.google.it/group/micros...53 2ea25dab83),
I creted a new instance, created a new db in it with the STS_content name
(the same as the previous one), stopped the instance, replaced the new empty
files (mdf and ldf) with the old full ones, brought back sql service online
and then tried to remove the torn page check following the procedure

but I was unsuccesful:
USE master
GO
ALTER DATABASE STS_content
SET TORN_PAGE_DETECTION OFF

GO
sp_configure 'allow updates', 1
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO
sp_resetstatus STS_content
sp_configure 'allow updates', 0
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE

but the DB still remains in emergency status
I then received other directions to follow:

but when a try to rebuild the DB I get:

Power failure->Sharepoint DB with torn page

Hi guys!
I'd really appreciate some help and directions about a sql server issue: I
had failure on my server (the fan of a cpu's got broken so the system
ungracefully stopped due to the overheat protection of the CPU). It's runnin

Here's wha

What I'm looking for is: some directions (I am a system engineer even if I

thanks to you all!
AlessandroIt would be helfpul to know in more detail what you have done.
Is it really the master database which is corrupted or another
database?
Only the mdf file, not the ldf file right?
And you're unable to do any recovery of the file whatsoever?
Mark|||Hi Mark,
First of all thanks for answering.

I creted a new instance, created a new db in it with the STS_content name
(the same as the previous one), stopped the instance, replaced the new empty
files (mdf and ldf) with the old full ones, brought back sql service online
and then tried to remove the torn page check following the procedure
explained at
http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=ht...0individual.net
but I was unsuccesful:
USE master
GO
ALTER DATABASE STS_content
SET TORN_PAGE_DETECTION OFF
USE master
GO
sp_configure 'allow updates', 1
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO
sp_resetstatus STS_content
sp_configure 'allow updates', 0
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE

but the DB still remains in emergency status
I then received other directions to follow:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=ht...news.dfncis.de
but when a try to rebuild the DB I get:

the problem is: being unexperienced with SQL I don't know how to get out
tables/objects from there... the only thing I was able to do following some
directions was to start the DB in emergency mode so the DB was accessible...
I had some mail exchange with Mark that I'd love to share (after getting his

Alessandro,
Enterprise Manager has a section entitled
"Management/DatabaseMaintenancePlans". If you simply upgraded, then I would
look there to see about backups.
You could search your harddrive for files based on how recent they are as
another tool to locating backups. They don't have any own suffix, although
.TRN is a default suffix to look for.
I am unfamiliar with sqlrecovery. When I searched for it I found
www.sql-server-repair.com which might be of interest to you. also
www.sqlrecovery.net. What is your sqlrecovery tool?

Sorry for bring so ignorant about that subject. i was using the basic
sharepoint db installation (which uses msde) and then upgraded to SQL. I don
't
know if there were transaction logs backups or not, how can I check it?
Enterprise manager? Looking for files with particular extension?
Greetings,

Do you have a full database backup? Do you have a series of transaction
log backups/dumps?

Post Installation error with RS2000 on Win2000 Server

Hello,

I have installed RS2000 with no errors, but when i browse to localhost/Reports i get an RS error page that reads:

"An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help

I have checked the LogFiles (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\LogFiles) and the error message reads as follows:

Also, this server is a domain controller on windows 2000 server with sp4

Can someone please help.

Robbie,

I'm running into the exact same error with the exact same scenario. Did you ever resolve this issue?

Possible to reference the value of a textbox in page header or footer?

Is it possible to reference the value of a textbox in a report page header
or footer? I've tried to create a textbox in my report page footer, and make
it show the PageNumber. My textbox is called txtPageNum.
In my report body, I've created another textbox. I've tried to set this
textbox's value to =ReportItems!txtPageNum.value, but that didn't work out.
This is the error message:
"The value expression for the textbox 'textbox2' refers to the report item
'txtPageNum'. Report item expressions can only refer to other report items
within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope."
So, is it even possible to reference it, or should I just give up on the
whole idea?
Kaisa M. LindahlSorry, meant that to be a post. Yes, in theory you can reference a
textbox field from a Header or Footer. However, for page numbers, I'd
reference the Report Services global variables. There are two of them
that apply here.
For example:
="Page " & Globals.PageNumber & " of " & Globals.TotalPages
This will show "Page 1 of 2", etc.
MikeN|||Funny, as each time I try to use Globals!PageNumber in a text box in the
body, I get this error message:
The value expression for the textbox 'textbox20' refers to the global
variable PageNumber or TotalPages. These global variables can be used only
in the page header and page footer.
I'm very interested in how you suggest I can use the globals in the report
body section.
I'm also rather interested in how to reference a textbox field in the header
or footer, even if it's in theory. I've tried referencing it with
ReportItems!myTextBox.value, but no good. Suggestions on syntax are very
welcome.

Possible to know if I'm on the first page or not?

I want to do a visibility check. If I'm looking at the first page of a
multipage report, I want an item to be hidden. If I'm looking on all pages
except page 1, I want the item to be visible. Is this possible? How? I've
tried creating a page footer, and added a textbox which shows the page
number with Globals!PageNumber. Unfortunately, I can't figure out to
reference this textbox. I've tried =IIF(MyTextBox.value > 1, True, False),
but then I get an error message saying that "MyTextBox" is not declared.
Please give me some advice.
Kaisa M. Lindahlwell dear in the hidden property of the textbox(field) which u want to
hide on first page n visible on all other pages write the following
expression
=iif(globals!pagenumber=1,trrue,false)
REMEMBER write this expression in the HIDDEN property of the textbox
which u want to hide
hope this ll resolve the problem
take care|||You can't use Globals!PageNumber in the body section of a report.
It can only be used in header and footer.Which is why I created my textbox
in the footer, and found out I can't reference the value of it.
Anyway, it's the whole report header I want to hide on this first page. But
the "Hidden"-expression is just the same for all items.

Possible to insert a page break?

I have a question regarding page break. Is there a way to add a page break
before a text box?
I know you can do this with tables, but I need to have the textbox which
contains the table title to start at the top of the page, instead of the
table itself. Thanks.
-JosephI'm not sure I understand the issue correctly, but did you try putting the
textbox inside a rectangle and add the page break on the rectangle?

Positioning Tables and Graphs On A Page using Rectangles (or anything!)

I am creating a report that contains several tables and graphs. The report should fit on one page. It is a dashboard type of report that gives a quick look at key information.I have several sections that have related objects - a table and a graph for the same subject. I grouped the subjects into rectangles so that I could have a nice border around each section. However, when the report is rendered in IE, the rectangles do not stay together, and I have white space between them. I tried putting a background color on the body, but the background color does not show when the report is rendered in IE.

I tried a work-around using lines, not rectangles, to separate sections. The spacing seems to be working, but again the background color is not showing on the rendered report, so that is not a viable option.

As a work-around for my work-around, I put the objects within one rectangle, again using lines to separate sections. However, the spacing of the objects within the rectangle is not working - I am left with large blank spaces again.

Has anyone run into the same problems?

TIA,

eBeth

I haven't used rectangles, but I have had luck using the table control. Even when I only needed a label and textbox, I found adding these to a table kept my data where I wanted it. This might be an option for you as well. For the report where this was the most useful I had a main table across the top, in the middle I have 3 more tables (small, 2 are single lines) spaced appropriately, and the bottom of the report has yet another table similar to the main table. I know its hard to visualize, but all the objects remain in the correct position.

Hi, eBeth,

See if this helps: Rendering Considerations for Automatic Sizing and Positioning .

In short, the position of report items in relation to each other influences how they behave when the report is rendered. Also, the white space on the background of the report design surface is preserved, so check that the rectangle border you create around the table & graph is not pushing the rendered report over the page boundary, and eliminate any of the white surface past the edges of your report items.

Hi,

Well, the answer seems to be trial and error with tables and other graphical elements. I have the page looking "OK," and am in the process of putting more information in tables. I now have section headings in the first table of the section, and am using tranparent rows in tables to space elements. It is not the best solution, but there it is. I read the online references; they didn't help very much. One of the main problems is that it has to look good on the web and when downloaded to Excel or PDF.

Thanks,

eBeth

Positioning report in SSRS

I created a report in SSRS. Current fiscal year report with every day
-- page break on month.
How do I position the report to the current month?
Right now the users have to page down when viewing the report.
I thought about creating an invisible sort column doing some sort of
equation on month, but I thought SSRS should have something to
position the report.
Thoughts? If users are most likely interested in monthly data, why not just have a
"month" query parameter added to the report?

case it makes lots of sense. Have a Month parameter which has the option of
All. Then have the filter that returns all months or just the specific
month.
