Preferable way to use two servers

I use data from two SQL servers to make up a webpage. What is the preferable
way to fetch the data.
- Make two connection objects and connect to both servers. or
- Fetch data throug one connection by means of a linked server?mike,
From a security point of view, and probably also performance, two
connections from the web server.

This is a SQL Server newsgroup a better place to post this would be a
powerbuilder or Access newsgroup. Searching google for 01S01 returned quite

this one looked promising

and indicates that is pssibly masking the real error which in this case the

PostgreSQL

wkstn: Win XP
SQL Server 2000(local, on wkstn)
I'm trying to connect to a PostgreSQL(on RedHat linux
server) database using the latest PostgreSQL ODBC driver
(07.03.0200) (trying)within SQL server via Import wizard
and DTS package...I keep getting this error: "Multiple-
step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB
status value, if available. No work was done." I searched
Knowledge Base and received info, but none that addressed
this specific issue. I am able to connect through MS
Access 2002.
Any suggestions?Mike,
Try connecting to PostgreSQL from a different tool such as WinSQL just
to make sure there is no problem with the ODBC driver.

Possible to Insert Records into ODBC Data Source from Stored Procedure?

I would like to insert records into a non MS-SQL database that I can connect
to with an ODBC data source.
This is possible? If so, can you give me an example of how to connect?
Thanks,
MikeYes, it is possible, and there are numerous ways of connecting to an ODBC
data source. If you are using C#, take a look at class OdbcConnection in the
System.Data.Odbc namespace --

possible to connect to SQL Server Mobile database

Is it possible to have a Windows applications (based on .NET Framework 2.0) connect to a SQL Server Mobile database?

I manually added the the System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll (retrieved from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\\SQL Server\Mobile\v3.0\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll) to my Windows Form project. When I start the app, it gives me an error message:

{"Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)":"System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91"}

TIA

K. I got this to work.

My problem was that I did not reference the dll from the correct location. The correct location of the SqlServerCe dll to reference is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll"

Dear Stormin,

I took the dll from the right location as you specified. But now I get another error Unable to load DLL 'sqlceme30.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E).

|||

Hi all,

I have been searching for weeks now trying to solve the same problem. I wrote a desktop application- and I waqnt this desktop application to access a sdf database. The correct system.data.SqlServerCe.dll is correctly referenced and it still gives me a "Unable to load DLL 'sqlceme30.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)" error. If I can open the database from within the Dev environment and edit it from there, why can no one come up with a solution to this problem?

|||Have you installed the SQL CE runtime components on the machine? Have you tried to include all the SQL CE dlls with your app?|||

Copy all seven sqlce...dll files from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE over to SYSTEM32 folder. This solved the problem for me. Check out the following link for details.

possibility in enterprise manager

Hi,

I'm using enterprise manager to remotely connect to a MS SQL Server for one of my client's websites. The problem I'm having is that the connection times out when I try to expand the "Databases" folder. The reason that it's timing out is because the company that hosts the DB has hundreds of other clients who all share the same IP, but each with their own seperate login/password/database, but even though I don't have access to all the rest of the DBs on the server, it still wants to list them all for me. What I'm wondering is is there a way to set EM to ignore all of the databases on the server that cannot be accessed with my credentials? So basically when I expand the Databases folder all that appears is the one that I can access?

Thanks,
DanteSeems like I've seen this question on the forum before and the answer was "nope". Sorry.
